About the theatre

Monika Kufel and Ana Nowicka

They work together in The Barakah Theatre in Cracow. Its purpuse is fully dedicated to creation and popularization of different kinds of art. First of all we hope, that The Barakah Theatre would be a place of dialogue and a meeting-place of cultures, religions and outlooks on life.

Monika Kufel

Monika Kufel – comes from Bielsko-Biała, graduated from Ludwik Solski Academy for the Dramatic Arts in Wroclaw. She specializes in monodrama - she took part in a few European festivals with “The Babel Woman” (2001). She received the Career Steps Award for her debut with “The Wardrobe” (2004) at the XXXIII National Festival of One-Actor Theater in Wroclaw, received the Special Award from the Minister of Culture of Macedonia at the International Festival “Actor of Europe” in Macedonia (2004), was honoured at the Festival of Diminutive Theatres in Lublin (2005).

She works part-time in L.Solski Theatre in Tarnów and “Porywacze Ciał” Theatre in Poznań. She writes scripts, designs scenography and treats disabled children by means of art. She is a member of the Association of Non-institutional Theatres (STEN) and the Authors’ Association (ZAIKS). Currently she plays in “Pułapka” (written by T. Różewicz and directed by K. Babicki) at Słowacki Theatre in Cracow and works full-time in Groteska Theatre in Cracow.

Ana Nowicka

Ana Nowicka – comes from Oświęcim, she was taught by Krzysztof Globisz and Jerzy Jarocki at Ludwik Solski Academy for the Dramatic Arts in Cracow. Her debut was a role in “The Sleepwalkers” (written by H. Broch and directed by Krystian Lupa) at the Stary Theatre in Cracow.

She received an Award at the Theatrical Festival “Talia” in 1998, works in L.Solski Theatre in Tarnów. She takes part in some independent undertakings (Łaźnia Theatre in Cracow, Theatrical Association “Mumerus”) and is a member of the Association of Non-institutional Theatres (STEN). She was taught dance by famous Solange Savine and is an instructor at vocal and theatrical workshops.
